生活習慣病・メタボリックシンドロームとは、食習慣・運動習慣・休養・喫煙・飲酒等の生活習慣が、その発症や進行に関与する疾患です。 生活習慣と関連する病気としては、高血圧・脂質異常症・心筋梗塞・狭心症・高尿酸血症・糖尿病（成人型）・アルコール性肝疾患・がん・歯周病などがあり、多くは自覚症状のないまま進行していくことが多いため早めの受診をお勧めします。
糖尿病・隠れ糖尿病※

糖尿病・内分泌内科は、糖尿病と内分泌代謝疾患（甲状腺疾患など、ホルモンの病気）を専門的に取り扱う診療科です。 最近では一般的な健康診断では発見されづらい「隠れ糖尿病」が将来的なリスク要因として注目されています。当院では隠れ糖尿病や境界型糖尿病といった診断や治療に注力しています。

『隠れ糖尿病』は、食後の血糖値が通常の人よりも高い［食後高血糖］にもかかわらず、空腹時の血糖値に問題がないため発見できない状態のことをいいます。一般的な健康診断では［空腹時血糖値］は測定しますが、［食後血糖値］の検査をしないため発見しづらいと言われています。 ［食後高血糖］の人は、時間がたっても血糖値を下げる働きが弱いため、将来的な動脈硬化のリスクが高いと言われています。さらに高血糖は様々な病気のリスクがあると考えられ、特に［食後高血糖］は脳卒中や心筋梗塞などのリスク要因となります。 男性のみならず女性でも30代後半から50代後半の働き盛り世代は、生活習慣・食事の変化や現代病といわれるさまざまなストレスから発症するリスクが高いと考えられています。 "Hidden diabetes" refers to a condition in which blood glucose levels after meals are higher than in normal people (postprandial hyperglycemia), but cannot be detected because there is no problem with fasting blood glucose levels. In general health checkups, "fasting blood glucose levels" are measured, but "postprandial blood glucose levels" are not tested, so it is said to be difficult to detect. People with "postprandial hyperglycemia" are said to have a high risk of future arteriosclerosis because they have a weak ability to lower blood glucose levels even over time. In addition, hyperglycemia is thought to be a risk factor for various diseases, and "postprandial hyperglycemia" in particular is a risk factor for stroke and myocardial infarction. Not only men but also women in their late 30s to late 50s, the working generation, are thought to be at high risk of developing diabetes due to changes in lifestyle and diet, and various stresses that are said to be modern diseases.
